Prodigy - Marie Lu This review has been x posted at The Book Twins

The highly captivating sequel to Marie Lu's "Legend" is everything that was promised to us and more.
We are back to Day and June's adventures as they have left Los Angeles and arrive in Vegas where the Patriots have taken camp and there isn't many places they are safe. They are hoping they will be able to get some help from those which are hunting them.

After being taken in by the Patriots, June and Day get some-what welcomed into the fold as they get told of their purpose and assignment. They must eliminate the newest Elector, Anden. The question is whether they'll be able to do it, or will they discover that two wrongs do not make a right.

We discover that who we assumed were the good guys may not be as clear as we thought they were to begin with.
In Legend, it was assumed that the Republic was the group everyone should fear, and the republic were the saving grace, but during Prodigy, things start to become a tad complicated when Anden takes over as the Republic's Elector and the Patriots are determined to assassinate him no matter the cost. But as time goes on, Day and June respectively start to understand that the lines between what you think and what are real are two real different things.

We seems to come to witness love-triangles in so many books these days. One of the things I loved about Legend was that there wasn't one, and I hoped that would continue. I guess things were too good to be true, but even though two separate triangles start to take shape. Even though I believe the end result will be the same, but to have the tension that lies between June and Day is so heartbreaking that it tears my heart in two.
At the end of the day, it is obvious the true feelings that reside in each of our main characters, and maybe these experiences will make the relationship between our core couple even stronger by the end of this trilogy.

If you thought the ending of Legend was shocking enough, the biggest shock of all is what comes at the end of Prodigy. I guarantee tears and heartbreak. revelations and shocking admissions. The end is near, and I look forward to the final piece of this trilogy. Can 2014 come soon enough?

Marie Lu has built up this strong and compelling world, characters and relationships. This is a book series which will stick with you for a long time after you have turned the last page of the book.
